| Word | Romaji | Context | Voiced ratio |
|---|---|---|---|
| すき | suki | u between two voiceless consonants | 0.22 ✓ |
| つき | tsuki | same | 0.18 ✓ |
| した | shita | i between voiceless consonants | 0.22 ✓ |
| くさ | kusa | u between k and s | 0.33 ✓ |
| かき | kaki | control: a between k's, no devoicing | 0.54 |
| あさ | asa | control: a does not devoice | 0.53 |
How to practise
- In すき, do not insert a full u between s and k.
- Contrast かき: that a must be fully voiced.
Where these numbers come from
Fraction of frames Praat judges voiced, inside the speech span. The 0.40 line comes from a clear gap in the data: 0.18–0.33 vs 0.53–0.54.
Slower speech restores voicing.
